Glebe Porch Restoration
Existing front porch prior to repair.
The deck, stairs, spindles and portions of the railing had deteriorated over time, particularly where exposed to moisture.
PROBLEM DETAIL: Deterioration at the base of posts and along the deck surface.
These areas required structural repair before new work could proceed.
STRUCTURAL WORK: The existing structure was reinforced with additional framing where needed.
New joists were added to bring the deck to 12" on centre and improve long-term performance.
SURPRISES: Brickwork at the porch base was repointed as part of the restoration to address deteriorated mortar and improve long-term durability.
IN PROGRESS: Porch structure being rebuilt and prepared for new decking and railing.
Existing elements were carefully removed and retained where possible.
FINISHED: Completed porch with new PVC decking, rebuilt stairs, and restored railing.
The proportions and overall character of the original porch were maintained.
